Are you a good witch or are you a bad witch?

Our group at work all dressed up as witches for the Halloween costume contest this year.  I may be partial, but I'd say we did a pretty good job!  I think my costume turned out pretty awesome.  My hair just might be my favorite thing though.  I butchered a plain old witch wig and pulled my hair through it.  Results = BIG CRAZY HAIR!  ...AND instead of looking worst as the day went on it just got more crazy and awesome!  I am absolutely going to remember this for the next time I decide to dress up!  Any who, here are some pictures from the day.

This is my scary face

All done! Just missing my broom!

Here is our group. I hope they don't mind me posting this.  ;)

Did anyone else dress up?  When I went up to the store, in full costume minus the hat, on my way home, I got some serious looks.  I think it was fun to dress up, especially as a group.  I'll let you know if we win!

Farmer's Market

Today was an amazing farmer's market day.  We lucked out and most of the organic vendors brought the last of the summer crops, and had their fall produce too!  It's an amazing time of year when you can get avocados, peppers and butternut squash all at one time!  Needless to say dinner tonight will be amazing!

Do you take advantage of your local farmer's markets?  There really is no better way to buy produce.  It's fresh, local, and all of the money goes straight to the farmer (no middle men).  It's a win win!

Happy Saturday!

Happy Halloween Weekend!

I know it's still a few days out, but I figured a lot of  you would be starting the celebration tonight.
This year we are having a costume contest at work and a group of us girls are dressing up as witches.  I am still making my costume (as per usual) I'll post pictures when I'm done.  Which will probably be Monday morning. =)  Yes, I'm a procrastinator!
I am still trying to figure out my make up too.  I don't want to go too scary, I'll be at work and around kids.  I do want it to be fun. I'm stuck in between classic witch, and funky eye make up.  I'm liking some of these.

Have any great inspiration?  I'm leaning toward: classic green face + funky eye make up.

followers fest

I just came across this fun link up party to share blogs with one another!  So far I have found a few new blogs to follow, and hope you do the same!  ... possibly even following my newbie blog ;)

Enjoy, and remember to share the love! If you like something let them know.  =)

For all you owl lovers!

I came across the cutest printable calendars today, and they are all about owls!  I'm not sure when I began obsessing liking owls so much, but they are just so cute, and seem to be everywhere now.  When I saw this 'create your own' calendar I knew I had to share!

Owl Lover 2012 Calendar

So, get to it!  Make one, or more!  Or just print out the ready made one.  Enjoy your year of cute owls!

juice fast

This morning when I woke up I thought 'Today would be a perfect day for a juice fast!'  Not only is it super good for you, but now I don't have to cook today!

Since I'm sure not everyone knows all about juicing I thought I'd share the process, and a little about the benefits of juicing!

Let's start with some benefits:
  • You can drink more veggies than you can eat.
  • By juicing the veggies (and fruit) you are making the nutrients in them more easy to absorb, so you are getting more from them.
  • Your body doesn't have to work to break down the juice, so it can focus on making you healthier!
Excited?! You should be! Now let's have a look at my juicer.

Ain't she a beauty!  It's an 'Angel' juicer.  It's pretty expensive, but I'd argue that it's the best one out there.  It's all stainless steel, it grinds slowly (doesn't heat the juice), and you seriously get every drop of juice out of your produce!

This morning I did a green juice (Kale, Celery, Apple and Lemon).  I'll probably do a Carrot mix of some sort later.  Here is my produce all ready to go.  I leave the skin and rinds on.

Here's an action shot... it just sucks up those leafy greens!

And here is what you are left with.  Delicious fresh juice and some really dry fiberous matter (which ends up mixed in with my dogs food, or in the compost)

A quick clean up!  It seriously takes like 2 minutes.

I dilute my juices about 70% juice to 30% filtered water.  Some people prefer a 50/50 ratio.  Mix and enjoy!

It's best to drink it right away, but if you have extra seal it tight and keep in in the fridge.  It will oxidize as it sits, and lose it's goodness, so don't wait too long!  What I juiced today (after being diluted) made about two 16oz glasses and cost about $4!  AND it's all organic!!!

They're back! (boots that is)

Yesterday I wore boots for the first time this season.  I was so excited about this that I reached into the depths of my closet today and pulled out all of my boots! (and then took pictures of them) to share of course.  I realized two things today: 1- I really love boots  2- All of my boots are pretty neutral.  I think I might need to find a fun new pair this year!  So, here is a glimpse into my shoe obsession.

Second hand (but brand new) FRYE boots

also second hand (but brand new) Banana Republic

my idea of a Paris souvenir
I have had these forever

I'm pretty sure these are from Target

Any great ideas on a new addition to the collection?

October 1st

This morning I am home all by my lonesome and have decided to spend my time not relaxing and reading a book, but with the music loud and cleaning up!  I have decided that the best way to clean house is with a dance party (even especially when it's just you).  So, here is to a new month, a new season, and a clean house!  And who knows, I might even tackle my office cleaning this week!  It is a complete disaster!  It's to the point where a 'before' and 'after' picture might be necessary.

Here are some of the easiest rules to stay organized.

It is so simple, but so many find it hard to keep up.  Are you organized or a hot mess?  I'm a little of both.
